First Impressions & Swatches : Kat Von D, Cover FX, Iconic London, Hourglass and Bobbi Brown

So I recently purchased a few items from Sephora, some are relatively new and some have been around for a while. I wanted to give my first impressions and provide swatches for each of the products.

Kat Von D Concealer Creme (Shade 29 Medium, Neutral Undertone) $26.00

So Kat Von D came out with a new concealer line, and I have to say so far I have been pleasantly surprised. I never tried her lock-it tattoo concealer, so I can’t attest to this formula being better than her old one. However, for me I will say this concealer has great coverage. Also, even though it is full coverage, the concealer doesn’t have a super think consistency (ew), which is great. I also love the applicator (pictured above), its different than other applicators I’ve seen and it makes the whole process of putting on the concealer smoother.

Lastly, I love that Kat Von D really tried to make shades for all different skin tones. Most of the time makeup lines put out the same beige and tan and you’re lucky if you find one deep tone. With this line, the tones range from all types and there’s a great selection for girls with deeper skin tones. Overall, I would definitely recommend buying the product. See swatches below.

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops (Sunlight & Candlelight) $42.00

So, I’d been debating on whether to purchase these babies for a while now. I’m not going to lie to you the price had been holding me back, but let me tell you, they are SO WORTH IT. See swatches below (Sunlight on the left, Candlelight on the right).

The drops are so pigmented it takes just a drop to achieve a highlighted look. Honestly, this is the best liquid highlighter I have ever tried. The drops don’t make you look greasy, but instead you shine bright like a diamond, they also give more of a dewy look. If I was comparing the drops to the Benefit liquid highlighters, I would say the Cover FX drops are in a different league. It just gives a nice glow, and is a nice change up to powder highlighters, I definitely recommend buying! See swatches below.

Iconic London Multi Use Cream Contour Palette £32.99 ($42.38)

Now this cream contour palette has been out for a while now, and I’ve always wanted to try it. I’ve been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) cream contour palette forever and a day, but I always get frustrated because it dries out so quickly. I got my cousin who lives in London to purchase the Iconic London palette for me, because I wasn’t trying to pay for international shipping.

When I tell you this palette is creamy, OH EM GEE. Like no joke, its super pigmented and creamy and doesn’t seem to have the drying problem the ABH palette does. I will say it is smaller in size, but apart from that, I think it’s amazing. I would recommend buying! See swatches below.

Hourglass Seamless Finish Foundation Stick $46

So let me just preface this by saying, I am not a fan of foundation sticks. I steer clear of them because I’m an oily skinned girl who likes full coverage. In the past, foundation sticks have caused me to look greasy and not given me the right amount of coverage I needed. The Hourglass foundation stick was a great surprise. It is full coverage, but you definitely have to put a good amount of the product on. Also, it didn’t cause me to look like a giant, shiny, disco ball.

I will say that, if you live in the South, or anywhere that has super hot weather, I would advise against wearing this outside. This is for air conditioning, cool weather, not places like Houston, Texas that get up to 100 degrees outside. It will not hold up in heat for more than a short period of time, so be weary! Now with all that being said, I definitely think the product is good for a stick foundation, but I would not purchase again for the $46 price tag! See swatch below.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Palette $69

This is the only product I bought, that I actually regret buying. Not because of the hefty price tag, but because of my huge disappointment. I love Bobbi Brown products, the Bobbi Brown Bronze Glow highlighter is one of my holy grails! I’ve always wanted to purchase the shimmer brick, but something has always stopped me. But Sephora had a special deal where you could get all three shimmer bricks in a palette for $69. So I was like, this is the time, they usually retail for $46 each! The palette itself is gorgeous (see above picture), however looks can be deceiving.

When I tell you there was no pigment, I had swatch it several times with my finger just to get it to show up. Now the name itself says shimmer, but I thought it would definitely be more pigmented and be more of a highlighter/blush. So if you like a very light highlight, or just want a slight, slight shimmer on your face, this is the product for you. If you want to shine bright like a diamond, and have your highlighter be seen from Mars, do not purchase this product. See swatches below.
